Baimak land lies 35 kilometers (20 miles) west of Madang Town, the provincial capital. They are one of eight language groups all living within a five kilometer radius, only one of which has any scripture. Their southern neighbors, the Bau (also called the Fulumu), received some verses of the Bible in 2010. The others have nothing as yet.
Cocoa is the main source of income in the district where the Baimak live, followed by poultry, copra and betel nut. It is also common to grow pitpit, bananas, laulau, guava, peanuts, corn, aibika (a green leafy vegetable rich in iron) and sugar cane. Ask God to provide the material needs of the Baimak.
Madang is located along the Pacific ring of fire and experiences constant earth tremors. Tremors can cause buildings to collapse.
A very high percentage of the Baimak people are Christian believers.
They need to learn what God wants from them from his word. It breaks God's heart that these precious people cannot relate intimately with him because they do not have his word in a language that they understand.
Please also ask God to protect them from the dangers of earth tremors.
Ask God to thrust out workers to bring the Bible to the Baimak and to their many neighbors who are missing out on the scriptures. God is just waiting to be asked!
