Bangali (Hindu traditions) of India

Introduction / History
The Bangali are a caste living in India and Bangladesh. They are partly nomads. They live in reed huts. Many live in the Doab region. They are endogamous, meaning they prefer marriage within their community. Some of them are Hindus and others are Sunni Muslims.

In Haryana in India, the Bangalis are Hindus who speak Haryanvi. They do snake charming and are landless. They breed donkeys, oxen and other animals. A caste council looks after them and settles disputes for them. Many work as agricultural laborers.

In Punjab, the Bangalis are Hindus too. They speak Punjabi and hunt for a living and go to several places looking for food. They are poor and have been given scheduled caste status too.

Prayer Points
* Pray that the Bangali caste councils come to Jesus Christ and lead others among them to Him too.
* Pray that God will give them dreams and visions leading them to salvation.
* Pray that they will be helped to get away from poverty.
