Introduction / History
The Buna live in Orissa in the Puri district and Cuttack and speak, read and write in Oriya. They are not vegetarians. They have birth and marriage rituals. On the death of the father, the sons inherit the property with the oldest son becoming in charge of the home. The dead are cremated.

The main work of the Buna is weaving. They weave saris among other items. Some work in agriculture.

The Buna are Hindus by religion. They worship ancestors too. They use education, modern medicine and family planning.
