Galiara of India

Introduction / History
The Galiara are Muslims who live in Gujarat in India. They get their name from the word Gali which means indigo. They work in the indigo and dyeing occupations. They were said to be Rajputs and became Muslims later. Bhavnagar and other regions is where they live.

The Galiara speak Gujarati and Hindi. They have many clans and marry among themselves. Many of them are now self-employed with grocery shops. They have a caste association to settle disputes and to look after them.

Due to modern technology their traditional work of dyeing and indigo extraction has lessened these days but they do take indigo from indigo plants at present for an income for themselves.

Prayer Points
* Pray that the leaders of the caste associations will come to Jesus Christ and lead others of the Galiara to Him too.
* Pray that God will give them dreams and visions leading them to salvation.
* Pray that they will want to know more about Jesus Christ after reading the Koran and that they will give their lives to Him.
