Gangakula of India

Introduction / History
The Kabbaliga come from Karnataka in India. The Gaurimakkalu who are a division of the Kabbaliga live in Mysore. They speak, read and write in Kannada. They are not vegetarians and eat Jowar as their main cereal.

The Kabbaliga prefer cross cousin marriages. Marriage is at the home of the bride. Divorce and marrying again are allowed. Sons inherit the property on the death of the father and the oldest son takes charge of the home. There is a birth pollution period. They bury the dead and have a death pollution period too.

The Kabbaliga usually do not own land. They fish and work in agriculture and some work in government services. Others are teachers and doctors for example and there are self-employed among them too. Boys go to college after school but girls do not. The Kabbaliga use modern medicine and family planning.

Prayer Points
* Pray that gospel materials will be used to bring the Kabbaliga to Salvation.
* Pray that God will give them dreams and visions leading them to Jesus Christ.
