Jhalo Malo of India

Introduction / History
The Jhalo Malo in India are a Scheduled Caste. The meaning of their name probably comes from their work in fishing.

In West Bengal they speak Bengali. They are Hindus and the dead are cremated. They do various forms of fishing including the trading side of things. There are landowners and business people among them.

In Assam, the Jhalo Malo migrated from West Bengal. They speak, read and write in Bengali and Assamese. Some of them are self-employed while others are employees. They have a caste association that looks after them.

Prayer Points
* Pray that gospel materials will bring them to Jesus Christ.
* Pray that the caste association leaders will come to Jesus Christ and that they will help lead others of the Jhalo Malo to salvation.
