Jhojha (Hindu traditions) of India

Introduction / History
The Jhojha are Muslims who live in western Uttar Pradesh. They are said to have been Hindus. The word Jhojha means battle. They speak in Urdu and Hindi and read and write in Perso-Arabic and Devanagari.

The Jhojha are not vegetarians. Marriage is by discussion. They are landowners who work in cultivation and also with animals. They have two caste associations in the State.

The Jhojha live mainly in Doab of Uttar Pradesh. They have a caste council to look after them and that has social control. Some live in other states too such as Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand and Punjab. From the Turkish invasion in the past there is a Turkish connection among the Jhojha.

Prayer Points
* Pray that as the Jhojha read the Koran they will be attracted to Jesus, read the Bible and give their lives to Jesus Christ.
* Pray that Jhojha council leaders will give their lives to Jesus Christ and lead others to Him.
