Katia of India

Introduction / History
The Katia are a scheduled caste of Madhya Pradesh in India. Spinning thread is their traditional work but they no longer do that.

The Katia speak Hindi and read and write in Devanagari. They are not vegetarians and eat wheat as a cereal. They have sub groups and clans.

The Katia now work in rickshaw pulling and agriculture. Women help in social and religious matters. Hinduism is their religion and local gods are worshipped by them.

Boys and girls are now getting educated but the gospel as well as in literature may need to be given in oral form too.

Prayer Points
* Pray that gospel recordings will bring the Katia to Jesus Christ.
* Pray that Indian Christians will lead them to Jesus Christ too.
