Kolowar of India

Introduction / History
The Kolam are a scheduled tribe of Maharashtra. They speak Kolami. Ancestors are worshipped by them. They are not vegetarians but do eat vegetarian food.

They are monogamous. The dead are buried. They mostly work in cultivation and as laborers. The women help with agriculture. They have a community council to look after them. Hinduism is their religion. Herbal medicine is preferred by them. They have a low literacy level, so the gospel will need to be given in oral form too.

Some of the Kolam live in Andhra Pradesh. Kola means bamboo or stick. They do basket work and work in bamboo also.

There are a few Kolam living in Madhya Pradesh too.

Prayer Points
* Pray that the community council leaders come to Jesus Christ and lead others of the Kolam to Him.
* Pray that gospel recordings will lead them to salvation.
