Prabhu Kayastha of India

Introduction / History
The Chandraseniya Kayastha Prabhu (often called CKP) live in Maharashtra in India. They live in Bombay and other cities and migrated from Madhya Pradesh. They speak Marathi and read and write in Devanagari. Rice and vegetables are eaten by them but they are not vegetarians.

The CPK are endogamous (they prefer to marry within their clan or group) and prefer cousin marriages. They have birth and marriage rituals. The dead are cremated. They get money from their land and work in trade and business. They are literate and use modern medicine and family planning. Hinduism is their religion.

In Gujarat the CPK can speak, read and write in Gujarati. Many of them work in civil defense. Their literacy level is not so good so the gospel may need to be given in oral form too.

Prayer Points
* Pray that Indian Christians will lead them to Jesus Christ.
* Pray that gospel materials will lead them to salvation.
