The Kattunayakan live in a few states in India including Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Their name means king of the jungle in Tamil. They are Hindus. They worship animals and other creation too. Monogamy is their way of marriage. They speak in Dravidian languages and like music.

In Kerala, they are hunters and gatherers and live in poverty. They are an ancient tribe of Kerala. They prefer traditional medicine.
