Mirdhas (Hindu traditions) of India

Introduction / History
The Mirdas are a scheduled tribe of India living in Madhya Pradesh and Odisha. They have sub groups. They trace their ancestry to the Oraon.

The Mirdas are not vegetarians and eat wheat and rice as cereals. They have cousin marriages. A traditional village council looks after them. They work in cultivation and agricultural laboring.

Hinduism is the religion of the Mirdas. They do floor and wall painting and basket work. Modern medicines and family planning are used by them.

They have a low literacy level especially among females, so the gospel will need to be given in oral form too.

Prayer Points
* Pray that the council leaders will come to Jesus Christ and lead others of the Mirdas to Him.
* Pray that gospel recordings will lead them to salvation.
