Pawaria (Muslim traditions) of India

Introduction / History
The Pawaria live in Bihar. Islam is their religion. They speak Urdu and Hindi and read and write in Perso-Arabic and Devanagari. They are not vegetarians and eat rice as the main food.

The Pawaria are mostly monogamous. They have birth and marriage rituals. The divorced and bereaved can marry again. The dead are buried. On the death of the father, the property is inherited by the sons with the oldest son becoming in charge of the home.

The Pawaria are involved in several lines of work such as shops and laboring. They use education and modern medicines but not family planning. They make use of other benefits available to them.

Prayer Points
* Pray that God gives the Pawaria dreams and visions leading them to Jesus Christ.
* Pray that gospel materials lead them to salvation.
