Paliya of India

Introduction / History
The Paliya are a scheduled caste living in West Bengal in India and are also called Poliya. They speak, read and write in Bengali. They are not vegetarians who eat meat, fish and eggs. Rice is eaten by them as a cereal.

The Paliya have three sub-groups. Many of them are landless. They work in agriculture mainly. Some are in business and there are some government workers among them. Hinduism is their religion.

The Paliya are generally not too well educated so the gospel will need to be given in oral form also. They use modern medicines and other help too.

Prayer Points
* Pray that gospel recordings will help lead the Paliya to salvation.
* Pray that Indian Christians will help lead them to Jesus Christ.
