Singiwala of India

Introduction / History
The Singiwala live in Rajasthan in India. The word Singi comes from the Singi pipe that is used to suck blood that is not pure from wounds. Wala means holder. They live in Jaipur and other regions. They speak Hindi and read and write in Devanagari. They are a Scheduled Caste.

The Singiwala are not vegetarians and eat wheat, maize and vegetables. They drink tea and alcohol and smoke too. They are endogamous (preferring to marry within their group) and they class all their clans as being equal. Monogamy is a rule except in cases where the wife cannot have children. Girls marry in their mid to late teens, boys marry up to early twenties. Marriage is arranged through discussion and a dowry is given.

The Singiwala are mainly Hindus but there are some Muslims among them. They are mostly unable to read and write so the gospel will need to be given in oral form too.

Prayer Points
* Pray that God will give the Singiwala dreams and visions leading them to Jesus Christ.
* Pray that gospel recordings will bring them to salvation too.
