Turi Barot of India

Introduction / History
The Turi are a scheduled caste living in Gujarat. They speak, read and write in Gujarati. They are vegetarians and eat wheat and rice as cereals.

The Turi have clans who look after marriages. Hinduism is their religion. Women help with the financial matters.

The Turi work mostly in genealogy and mythology. They also do drama and dancing. Some work in government service. The gospel may need to be given in oral form too as there is much illiteracy among their older people. In the urban regions they use modern medicines but in rural regions the traditional medicines are favoured by them.

Prayer Points
* Pray that Indian Christians lead them to Jesus Christ.
* Pray that gospel recordings and readings from the Bible lead them to salvation.
