Valan of India

Introduction / History
The Valan of India live in Kerala. The word vala means fishing net. They speak, read and write in Malayalam. They are not vegetarians and eat rice as a cereal.

Divorce and marrying again are allowed among the Valan. There are marriage rituals. The dead are buried. Property goes to the sons with the oldest son becoming in charge of the home on the death of the father.

The Valan work in fishing and in other work such as business and horticulture. They have a caste council to look after them. Hinduism is their religion. They have festivals. Their children are educated and they use family planning.

Prayer Points
* Pray that the caste council leaders will come to Jesus Christ and lead others of the Valan to Him.
* Pray that gospel materials will lead the Valan to salvation.
