Kabixi of Brazil |
Introduction / History The Kabixi are a small indigenous tribe of Brazil who live in Mato Grosso. They hunt and grow manioc and maize.
In the eighteenth century, Portuguese slave traders captured some and diseases killed others, lessening their numbers greatly. Those looking for gold brought new diseases to them. Even more were killed by diseases during the rubber boom of the last century.
Recently the Kabixi have been living an isolated life near Vila Bela. Sometimes they have aggressive confrontations with others. These could be obstacles to the gospel being given to them.
The Kabixi speak Arawakan and Portuguese. They are animists by religion. Prayer Points * Pray that the gospel can be given to the Kabixi and that they will be disease free.
* Pray that the troubles they have had will bring them to Jesus Christ. Text source: Anonymous |
