Madari (Muslim traditions) of India

Introduction / History
The Madari speak Hindi, Urdu and the regional languages and read and write in Perso-Arabic and Devanagari. Some of them are Hindus and some follow Islam. They are not vegetarians who eat maize and wheat. They make a living from training bears and monkeys to do tricks. Their literacy level is low so the gospel will need to be given in oral form too. The Madari in Gujarat are mostly endogamous. Divorcees can marry again. They have marriage rituals. On the death of the father, sons inherit the property with the oldest son becoming in charge of the home. They have a council to look after them. They prefer traditional medicines. Hinduism is their religion. The Madari in Punjab and Haryana are Muslims. They also live in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Rajasthan.

Prayer Points
* Pray that gospel recordings will lead them to Jesus Christ.
* Pray that God will give them dreams and visions leading them to salvation.
