Introduction / History
The Baranwal in Bihar speak Hindi and Maithili and read and write in Devanagari. They are not vegetarians and eat rice as a cereal. Upon the death of the father the property goes in equal amounts to the sons. They have birth and marriage rituals and the dead are cremated.

They are mostly traders and in business. Most of them are landowners and are educated. They use traditional and modern medicines.

In Uttar Pradesh the Baranwal speak Bhojpuri or Hindi. They are vegetarians and eat wheat and rice as cereals. Many of them have shops. The well-educated work in government or private services. They are Hindus by religion.

Prayer Points
* Pray that Indian Christians will lead the Baranwal to Jesus Christ.
* Pray that gospel materials will lead them to salvation.
