Bania Srimali of India |
Introduction / History The Srimali Vaishya Bania live in Madhya Pradesh in India. The word Srimali has its origins from a town in Rajasthan. They speak Nimari and Hindi and read and write in Devanagari. They are vegetarians and eat wheat and rice as cereals.
The Srimali Vaishya Bania can marry again after the death of a spouse. On the death of the father, property goes to the sons and the oldest son becomes in charge of the home. There are birth and marriage rituals and the dead are cremated. Children under twelve are buried.
They are Hindus by religion. Council elders settle disputes and look after them. They work in trade and in business but in rural regions many of them work in agriculture. Education, family planning and modern medicines are practiced. Prayer Points * Pray that council elders will come to Jesus Christ and lead others to Him, too.
* Pray that gospel materials will bring them to salvation.
* Pray that God will give them dreams and visions leading them to Jesus Christ. Text source: Anonymous |
