Thai Islam of Thailand

Introduction / History
A minority of people in Thailand are Muslims. Most are Sunni Muslims. They have come from countries such as Malaysia, China, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Indonesia and Cambodia.

Most of the Muslims are Malay by origin. There are refugees among them such as the Rohingya. The work of the South Asian Muslims varies from business people, some of who are wealthy to laborers.

Islam among them is mixed with Sufism. There are many mosques in Thailand with the largest number in Pattini province. There are many Islamic schools and banks.

A person called Chularatchamontri has the authority to rule in Islamic matters. Ethnic Thai Muslims live in central Thailand as do some Muslims of Chinese origin. Ethnic Thai Muslims speak Thai and have married with other communities or have converted to Islam more recently.

Prayer Points
* Pray that those in authority with Islam in Thailand will come to Jesus Christ and lead others to him too.
* Pray that as the Muslims in Thailand read the Koran about Jesus Christ it will cause them to read the Bible and give their lives to Him.
