Brahmin Audich of India

Introduction / History
The Audichaya Brahman are the largest Brahman people group in Gujarat in India. They speak Gujarati. Audich means a northerner. They are vegetarians who drink no alcohol.

Widows cannot marry again. Marriage is by discussion. Only husbands can do the divorcing. Women can get some of the property when the father dies. The oldest son becomes in charge of the home. There are birth, marriage and death rituals. The dead are cremated except for very young babies who are buried.

The Audichaya Brahman are priests and astrologers. They also work in agriculture and some do office work. There are caste councils who judge in disputes, help with marriage negotiating and also help poor children. They are Hindus and celebrate these festivals.

Prayer Points
* Pray that the Audichaya Brahman caste councils will come to Jesus Christ and lead others among them to Him.
* Pray that God will give them dreams and visions leading them to salvation.
