The Rajput Panwar or Ponwar are Hindus and their house deity is Dulha Deo. They speak Hindi.

Many of the Panwar Rajput are village proprietors. and cultivators. The Panwar of Wainganga Valley marry each other. They have exogamous clans. Some have names of Rajput clans.

Girls often marry before their teens but do not live with their husbands before their teenage years. The dead are cremated usually but those who died an unnatural death are buried.
