Gond Sonjhari of India

Introduction / History
The Gond Sonjhari are a scheduled tribe of Maharashtra. Their name comes from extracting gold from river beds and drains. They are not vegetarians and they eat wheat as a cereal. They speak Laria with each other.

The Gond Sonjhari prefer cousin marriages. The dead are buried. They worship ancestors. The women play a large part in helping with the income needed. Extracting gold is what many of them do for a living.

They have a traditional council to settle disagreements among them. They are not well educated, so the gospel will need to be given in oral form too. Family planning is used by them.

Prayer Points
* Pray that the council leaders come to Jesus Christ and lead others to Him.
* Pray that gospel recordings lead them to salvation.
