Teli Gangauta (Hindu traditions) of India

Introduction / History
The Gangauta live in Bihar. They speak Angika and Hindi too and read and write in Devanagari. They are not vegetarians and eat rice and wheat as cereals.

Divorcees and the bereaved can marry again. On the death of the father sons and to a lesser degree daughters inherit the property with the oldest son becoming in charge of the home. The dead are buried or cremated.

Many of the Gangauta work as wage laborers. A traditional community council helps to look after them. They have a low literacy level so the gospel will need to be given in oral form too.

Hinduism is the religion of the Gangauta. They believe they were created by the goddess Ganga.

Prayer Points
* Pray that the community council leaders come to Jesus Christ and lead others of the Gangauta to Him.
* Pray that gospel recordings will lead them to salvation.
