Beriya (Hindu traditions) of India

Introduction / History
The Bedia are a scheduled caste. Hinduism is their religion. They are also called Beria.

The Bedia in Madhya Pradesh speak Hindi. They are not vegetarians but do not eat pork or beef. Wheat and rice are eaten by them as cereals. The dead are cremated. They work in agriculture. Women help a lot with the income. They believe in education but have a low literacy level, so the gospel will need to be given in oral form too. They have good relations with the landlords in the region.

The Bedia in Uttar Pradesh speak Awadhi and read and write in Devanagari. They bury the dead.
