Summary Most of the Thai who arrived in the US did so in the 1970s and 1980s around the same time many were coming from other parts of Southeast Asian. The Central Thai people in the US are mainly in California, especially Greater Los Angeles. However there are also many in New York City and Houston. Though a good number of them have small businesses like restaurants, jewelry stores and markets, you cannot say that the Thai have a specific kind of work in the United States. Some are doctors, and many work in factories, especially the ones who have arrived more recently. Many Thai people come temporarily to study at universities.
Ministry Obstacles Though the Thai are flexible enough to marry outside their culture, they identify with being Buddhist. It is very difficult to get a Central Thai person to get beyond the belief that "to be Thai is to be Buddhist," no matter where they live.
Outreach Ideas Thai people are famous in America for their delicious spicy coconut curries. American believers who love Thai food can befriend these Buddhists and share Jesus with them as a best friend, a guide, and a savior.
Pray for the followers of Christ There are few ethnic Thai believers in the United States. Pray for them to be prayerful, bold, and loving in their witness to their Buddhist family members. Pray for them to be filled with the fruit of the Holy Spirit in such a way that Buddhists will see that Jesus makes a big difference in people's lives.
Pray for the entire people group * Pray for a movement to Christ among the Central Thai in the United States that will result in many new believers starting culturally-sensitive fellowships in Thailand.
* Pray for T4T discipleship movement to affect Thai communities in the US and in Thailand.
