Introduction / HistoryThe Bhatiara are a Pathan people who live in North India. They are Innkeepers by tradition and speak Awadhi, Urdu and Hindi. They are Muslims.
Most of the Bhatiara work as laborers and some are working drawing horse drawn carts. Many rent land to others.
In Bihar they are endogamous and speak in Magadhi. They are small traders and have shops. They have a State Association for the whole state.
In Rajasthan, the Bhatiara do their traditional work of inn keeping and sell food to Muslims. Many work as laborers. They have a caste council that judges in disputes among them.
