Introduction / History Traditionally the Jhinwar peoples have been associated with boating, fishing and carrying water. Others milled grain for a living. Recently, they have entered stone-cutting, agriculture, and the road-building professions.
Where are they located? Most Muslim Jhinwar people live in Punjab or Sindh Provinces of Pakistan.
What are their lives like? The Jhinwar people are considered to be either Other Backward Castes (OBGs) or a Scheduled caste. These are both low status groups. That makes a big difference in just about any South Asian culture.
What are their beliefs? Muslim Jhinwar people adhere to the teachings of Mohammed as spelled out in the Koran, but few if any can read Classical Arabic, the language of the Islamic holy book. For this reason, they depend on their imams and mullahs to teach them the fundamentals of Islam. They hope that their good deeds will outweigh their bad deeds on the day of judgment.
What are their needs? No matter what religious affiliation they have, Jhinwar people need to make Christ central to their identity. He needs to be the one they trust.
