Introduction / History
The Puthirai Vannan are a Scheduled Caste in Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

In Tamil Nadu they speak, read and write in Tamil. They are not vegetarian and eat rice as a cereal. The women help getting water and in religious and financial matters. Many of them are washermen and laborers. Hinduism is their religion. They believe in education for both boys and girls.

In Pondicherry, the Puthirai Vannan prefer marriages between cousins. Marriage is negotiated. They are monogamous. Divorcees and the bereaved can marry again. The dead are buried. On the death of the father, sons inherit the property with the oldest son becoming in charge of the home. They have a community association to look after them. They do not favor education, so the gospel may need to be given in oral form.

Pray that the community association leaders come to Jesus Christ and lead others to Him.
Pray that gospel recordings will lead them to salvation.
