Introduction / HistoryThe Tanla are a Scheduled Caste who live in Orissa. The word Tanla means low as they are looked on as low socially. They speak in Oriya.
The Tanla are not vegetarians and eat rice as a cereal. They have cousin marriages. Most of them are landless. They work mainly in agriculture. The women do housework.
The Tanla are Hindus and have festivals. They believe in education but the literacy level is low, so the gospel will need to be given in oral form too.
Prayer Points* Pray that the Tanla will find that Jesus Christ does not look on them as being low and will give their lives to Him.
* Pray that gospel recordings will lead them to salvation.
