Introduction / History
The Turi of India by tradition are workers in bamboo and basket making. They are Hindus by religion. They have a low literacy level so the gospel will need to be given in oral form too.

In Bihar, the Turi speak Sadri. They are not vegetarians and they eat rice and wheat as cereals. Bamboo is collected by them from the forest or they buy it from local markets for basket making. Some of them work in agriculture and some do other work. They use traditional and modern medicines. Family planning is used by them.

In West Bengal they speak Kherwari. They are landless and they cut soil and make ridges. Some look after animals.

In Orissa, the Turi do basket work and make roof mats. The women help with finances. They speak in Oriya. As well as Hinduism they are local religion followers too.

Pray that gospel recordings will bring the Turi to Jesus Christ.
Pray that dreams and visions will bring them to salvation.
