Introduction / HistoryThe Acharya live in Tripura. They speak, read and write in Bengali. They are not vegetarians and eat rice as a cereal. Hinduism is the religion they follow.
The Aharya allow widows to marry again. They have birth and marriage rituals. The dead are cremated. On the death of the father, sons and daughters get the same share of the property.
The Acharya work mostly in agriculture. They believe in education and use modern medicines and family planning. The men and women do some craft work.
