Introduction / History The Doma, Vadoma live in the Kanyemba region in the north of Zimbabwe. They are hunter gatherers. Dema and Shona is spoken by them. They used to live in the mountains and are the only non-agricultural people in Zimbabwe. Many of them have gone to live in the lowlands.
The Vadoma have little contact with Zimbabweans who are not of their people. They follow their ethnic religion though there are some who are Seventh Day Adventists.
A large minority of the Vadoma have a condition called ectrodactyly where three middle toes are missing and the other two toes go inwards. It is genetic. Their isolation is said to have caused this problem. These Vadoma with this condition are not looked down on and are accepted by other members of their community.
Prayer Points * Pray that Zimbabwe Christians will take the gospel message to the Vadoma, help them generally and lead them to Jesus Christ.
* Pray that help will be given to those of the Vadoma with the toe handicap too.
