Introduction / History
The Maghia live in Orissa. They speak Maithili, Oriya and Hindi and read and write in Oriya and Devanagari. They eat meat, fish, eggs and rice.

The Maghia are monogamous and marriage is by discussion and mutual consent. They have birth rituals. Divorce is not allowed among them. The bereaved can marry again. The dead are cremated. On the death of the father, the sons inherit the property.

The Maghia own land and are cultivators. They also work in business. Hinduism is their religion. A caste council looks after them. They are well educated and use modern medicines too.

Pray that the council leaders come to Jesus Christ and lead others to Him.
Pray that gospel materials and the internet lead the Maghia to salvation.
