Introduction / History
The word, "mallah" means "moving like a bird's wing," also "people of the sea." They claim descent from the Hindu god, Nisadh.

Where are they located?
Most live in the Indian states of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and West Bengal, though a smaller number live further east in Bangladesh.

What are their lives like?
Some are common laborers, farmers, or seamen who sell fish in the markets. They have only one spouse. The divorced and bereaved are permitted to marry again. Upon the father's death, sons inherit the property, the oldest son taking charge of the home. The dead are either cremated or buried. Boys are educated. They have a caste council that judges in certain matters.

What are their beliefs?
The Chain Mallah people are Hindu. They worship one or a million gods, it all depends on their desired favors. They celebrate many Hindu festivals.

What are their needs?
Although printed, visual, and audio Bible resources are available in their Hindi language, Chain Mallah people remain unreached and unengaged. Who will tell them of Almighty God who loves them and has provided payment of the penalty for their sins?

Prayer Points
Pray that the Mallah caste council members will give their lives to Jesus Christ and lead others to Him.
Pray that God will give some dreams and visions leading them to salvation.
Pray for the Holy Spirit to give the Chain Mallah people teachable and understanding hearts.
Pray for a strong movement of the Holy Spirit which will bring entire Chain Mallah families into a rich experience of God's blessing.
