Introduction / History
The Chobdar live in Rajasthan. The word chobdar means stockholder.
They speak Hindi and read and write in Devanagari. They are not vegetarians and eat wheat as a cereal.
The Chobdar are monogamous. Divorce and marrying again are allowed. There are birth and marriage rituals. The dead are cremated except for small children who are buried. On the death of the father, sons inherit the property with the oldest son becoming in charge of the home.
The Chobdar work in cultivation, bookbinding and tailoring. They have festivals.
Hinduism is their religion. They believe in education and have their children educated. Modern medicines and hospitals are used by them.
