Introduction / History
The Kashmiri Pandit in Jammu and Kashmir of India speak mostly Kashmiri but can speak Hindi and Urdu too. They read and write in Devanagari and in Perso-Arabic. They are not vegetarians and they eat rice as their main cereal. Marrying away from their ethnic group does not happen very often. They believe in adult marriages now. They are monogamous and dowries are given. Divorce and marrying again is allowed. There are birth, marriage and death rituals. The dead are cremated. There are Hindus and Muslims among them. Most do not own land and work in government and professional work such as doctors.
The Kashmiri Pandit in Uttar Pradesh speak Hindi and read and write in Devanagari. They are well educated and use family planning. They do government and private work and some of them are self-employed.
In Delhi the Kashmiri Pandit worship Shiva as their main god. There are marriages with other communities among them.

* Pray that gospel materials will lead them to salvation too.
