Introduction / History
The Brahmin Telugu are largely in Andhra Pradesh in India. They are also called Niyogi Brahman. They read and write in Telugu and are vegetarians with rice as their main cereal.

The Brahmin Telugu are endogamous (they prefer to marry within their people group) and believe in monogamy in regard to marriage. Male divorcees and widowers can marry again. Sons equally inherit the property with the oldest son becoming in charge of the home. Marriage and birth rituals are performed and the dead are cremated.

Some of the Brahmin Telugu own land. They work in agriculture by tradition. Some have businesses. They are Hindus by religion.

In Karnataka, they speak Kannada and Telugu and write using Kannada. Some of them work in government and some in private services. They practice cross-cousin marriages. Marriage is arranged by a discussion process. Women take part in social and religious matters. They use family planning.
