Introduction / History
The Arakh live in Uttar Pradesh. They speak Indo Aryan and Hindi and read and write in Devanagari. Hinduism is their religion.
The Arakh have two endogamous groups. The divorced and bereaved can marry again. Women help in agriculture and in financial matters. On the death of the father, sons inherit the property with the oldest son becoming in charge of the home. There are birth and marriage rituals. The dead are buried.
The Arakh work mainly in cultivation. Some work in business while some of them work for the government
The Arakh are not vegetarians and eat wheat and rice as cereals. Boys are educated but girls less so. (from people groups of India)
