Introduction / History
The Kayastha have emigrated from Uttar Pradesh. They speak Hindi and read and write in Devanagari. Some of them are non-vegetarians while others are vegetarians, especially among the women. They eat wheat and rice as cereals. Hinduism is their religion.
The divorced and the bereaved can marry again. They have birth and marriage rituals and the dead are cremated.
The Kayastha work as professionals in government service and other occupations in education, law and medicine. They believe in education for both boys and girls and use family planning.
They are classed as scribes who keep public records and have had high government positions. Some are in politics now.
* Pray that pride does not get in the way of the Kayastha receiving Jesus Christ.
* Pray that Indian Christians will lead them to salvation.
* Pray that gospel materials and the internet will lead them to Jesus Christ.
