Statistics: Statistical data on the Joshua Project website may be used without further permission. Please cite Joshua Project and link to www.joshuaproject.net where possible.
Photos / Maps / Text: The photos, maps and text displayed on the Joshua Project website are a mixture of non-copyrighted and copyrighted material. Copyright notices are indicated in the Source listing below photos, maps and text or are sometimes embedded in photos.
1.) Non-copyrighted material: Non-copyrighted material is public domain and can be used without further permission. Maps created by Joshua Project are not copyrighted and may be used without permission. When possible, please cite the original source and provide a link to the source's website.
2.) Copyrighted material: Joshua Project has obtained usage permissions for the copyrighted material from the original sources. Just because this material is displayed on the Joshua Project website does not imply that it is public domain. Please honor the copyrights of those who have provided Joshua Project with material. Please do not copy this material without permission from the original sources.
Original Sources: Joshua Project information was almost entirely provided by other agencies, denominations, and individuals. They provided it without charge to Joshua Project, with the intention that the information be used to further the fulfillment of the Great Commission. We have a responsibility to those providers to assure that the information is used for that purpose.
Joshua Project does not charge for any services or products. Our desire is for this information to be provided freely to all who are working to advance the cause of the Gospel in the world. This information is not intended for profit-making activities.
Most original sources, such as Bethany World Prayer Center and Asia Harvest, have given permission for users to copy limited amounts of text, photos and/or maps without permission. For example, an organization wishing to create a people profile, non-commercial flyer, bulletin insert, prayer guides and prayer calendars featuring specific people groups may copy a web photo, map and/or text displayed on the Joshua Project website without further permission. However, the original source must be cited and a link provided to their website where possible.
For those wishing to copy or use a significant amount of copyrighted material, the original source must be contacted to obtain usage permission.
Website Usage: Our desire is that all viewers and users of Joshua Project information are aware of the original sources of information. We request that websites and publications that use Joshua Project information make this clear to their audience. Please note the following possible approaches to displaying Joshua Project information on other websites.
1.) Linking to the Joshua Project website. This is the preferred approach. It will help prevent data from becoming dated and disagreeing between sources, will lessen confusion for viewers of the affected sites, will encourage corrections, additions, and questions to be sent to the proper party, and may lessen the possible misuse of the information.
2.) Copying Joshua Project data to another website. This approach may be appropriate in limited situations, but it brings the possible disadvantages noted in #1, above. We ask that this approach be used only for small amounts of data, and with Joshua Project cited as source.
3.) Embedding Joshua Project web pages or content on another website with URLs formatted such that it is not apparent the web pages came from the Joshua Project website. We ask that this not be done, but rather direct links be used. Among other negative results, replicating Joshua Project webpages within another site will likely cause search engines to penalize both sites as well as confuse users.
Edits / Feedback: Joshua Project welcomes feedback of all kinds. See some information that needs correcting or updating? Have a good people group photo? Involved in ministry among a particular people? Click here to send feedback .
You are encouraged to link to the Joshua Project website or quote it in your publications (with proper attribution) without further permission. Commercial use or sale of Joshua Project information is prohibited without the prior written consent of Joshua Project.
